Creative Vision
Krishna Hanns is an interdisciplinary artist working across painting, sculpture, and textiles. Raised on a farm in South Africa, she grew up helping her family build a home and farm from a remote 100-acre plot with no water or electricity. Guided by her father's practical skills and her mother's tireless work ethic, she developed a lifelong connection to nature, animals, and the land.
These experiences later inspired Krishna to establish her own smallholding in the Cradle of Humankind, where she raised her children surrounded by the countryside she loves. Drawing on her South African roots, English heritage, and passion for conservation, her work explores themes of identity, memory, belonging, and our relationship with the natural world. Through painting, sculpture, textiles, and barkcloth, she creates layered works that weave together personal history, place, and ecological narratives.
